About Us

Who Are We?

PT Foundation (previously known as Pink Triangle Sdn Bhd) is a community-based, voluntary non-profit making organization providing HIV/AIDS education, prevention, care and support programmes, sexuality awareness and empowerment programmes for vulnerable communities in Malaysia. We work with 5 vulnerable communities mainly drug users, sex workers, transsexuals, men who have sex with men (MSM), and people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHIV).

Our Mission

Our mission is to be the most efficient community-based organization providing information, education and care services relating to HIV/AIDS and sexuality in Malaysia, working with communities that are difficult to reach due to societal discrimination.

PT Foundation's 5 Communities Programs

With much assistance from the Malaysian Aids Council (MAC), we oversee 5 communities within the foundation. An elected Core Group and a Chairperson represent each of this community, allowing us to lead, strengthen and support an expended response to HIV/AIDS.

Background

PT Foundation was founded in 1987 to provide telephone counselling about HIV/AIDS and sexuality, it has expanded its services responding to the needs and concerns of various communities that are discriminated against because of HIV, AIDS and/or sexuality.

Objectives

We are committed to create an enabling environment for marginalized communities to feel safe and empowered to look after themselves:

To help minimize the rate of infection of HIV/AIDS amongst our communities

To help provide care and support and improve the quality of life for people living with HIV/AIDS

To help reduce discrimination of our communities that is based on ignorance and lack of information

Innovation for Malaysians and Global Networking

PT Foundation is regularly invited to give talks and conduct seminars or workshops in corporations, hospitals, factories, companies, charities, youth organizations, schools, colleges and universities.

In order to mobilize vastly more resources for this purpose, we are an affiliate member of:

The Malaysian AIDS Council (MAC)

To help provide care and support and improve the quality of life for people living with HIV/AIDS

To help reduce discrimination of our communities that is based on ignorance and lack of information

Our Way of Working

We consult, guild and empower

We are non-judgemental

We are volunteer-based

We provide support, hope and care

We educate our communities for sustained change

At PT Foundation, we believe real change - that makes a positive and lasting impact in people's lives - takes place through community development methods as recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) and United Nations Development Program (UNDP). These methods include peer outreach, safe spaces, community-appropriate information and ensuring that programs are largely 'owned' and managed by the respective communities
