Our Mission
Our mission is to be the most efficient community-based organization providing information, education, and care services relating to HIV/AIDS and sexuality in Malaysia, working with communities that are difficult to reach due to societal discrimination.
PT Foundation's 5 Communities Programmes
With much assistance from the Malaysian Aids Council (MAC), we oversee 5 communities within the foundation. An elected Core Group and a Chairperson represent each of these communities, allowing us to lead, strengthen and support an effective response to HIV/AIDS.

Background
PT Foundation was founded in 1987 to provide a telephone counseling service for HIV/AIDS and sexuality issues. Over the years, we have expanded our services responding to the needs and concerns of various communities that are discriminated against due to their way of life or HIV/AIDS status.
Objectives
We are committed to creating an enabling environment for marginalized communities in the following ways:
- To help minimize the rate of infection of HIV/AIDS amongst our communities
- To help provide care and support and improve the quality of life for people living with HIV/AIDS
- To help reduce discrimination of our communities that is based on ignorance and lack of information
- To empower our communities by providing them a safe space to be themselves
Our Way of Working
- We consult, guide and empower
- We are non-judgemental
- We are volunteer-based
- We provide support, hope and care
- We educate our communities for sustained change
At PT Foundation, we believe real change - that makes a positive and lasting impact in people's lives - takes place through community development methods as recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) and United Nations Development Program (UNDP). These methods include peer outreach, safe spaces, community-appropriate information and ensuring that programs are largely 'owned' and managed by the respective communities.
PT Foundation is a partner organization of Malaysian AIDS Council (MAC), an umbrella body representing non-governmental organizations doing HIV/AIDS work in Malaysia.
