STAFF of the Renaissance Hotels and Resorts in Malaysia will be wearing red
ribbons over a two-month period in support of the Hope Campaign.
Renaissance Kuala Lumpur general manager Robert Frager and Malaysian AIDS
Foundation general manager Raj Kumar Balamanickam launched the campaign at
the hotel lobby, recently.
There were simultaneous launches at the Renaissance Malacca Hotel,
Renaissance Kota Baru Hotel and Miri Marriott Resort & Spa.
At the end of the campaign, the total amount of money collected would be
presented to the Malaysian AIDS Foundation.
Guests may donate to the foundation by dropping their monetary contributions
into the donation box placed at the hotel or by purchasing gifts in the form
of chocolates and cookies sold at the Flower Shop.
The funds will be channelled to the foundation.
Frager got the ball rolling for Renaissance Kuala Lumpur by dropping the
first donation into the box and signing his name on the Hope Banner placed
at the hotel lobby.
Raj Kumar then pinned the Red Ribbon, an international symbol for HIV/AIDS
awareness, care and concern, on Frager.
“The hotel associates will wear the Red Ribbon throughout the duration of
the Hope Campaign to show care and support for people, especially children,
living with HIV/AIDS. We intend to present the total amount collected to the
foundation on AIDS Memorial Day on Dec 1,” he said.
The MAF provides direct financial aid and sponsorship to help meet the basic
and essential needs of People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHAs) as well as
grants to the Malaysian AIDS Council and its partners to facilitate HIV/AIDS
programmes throughout the country.
Funds raised by the MAF are used for the Paediatric AIDS Scheme, PLWHA Drug
Assistance Scheme, PLWHA Business Assistance Scheme, scholarships, grants
and awards.
