IN conjunction with World AIDS Day last week, a group of celebrities
surprised passengers onboard the KL Monorail when they appeared in similar
T-shirts, to hand out brochures and red ribbons to the passengers to
increase awareness on the disease.
Among the celebrities present included Ida Nerina, Nanu Baharuddin, Azwan
Ali, Ashraf Sinclair, Aishah Sinclair, Rina Omar, 8TV host Yoon and
Malaysian Idol 2005 first runner up Nita together with staff and partners of
M.A.C Cosmetics.
The energetic group also took time to take photographs with their fans
before alighting at the Bukit Bintang station to gather at the Lot 10
shopping centre where they presented a cheque for RM100, 000 to Malaysian
AIDS Foundation (MAF).
The M.A.C AIDS Fund was initiated in 1994 to support the lives of men, women
and children living with HIV/AIDS globally.
It was also the same year that the Viva Glam lipstick was introduced, hence
the company decided that every 100% sale of the Viva Glam lipstick would go
towards the fund.
The public can support the cause by purchasing a M.A.C Viva Glam VI Lipstick
or lip gloss at RM60 and RM58 respectively.
“We wanted to do something different this year by organising the “Charity
Monorail Journey'' besides the yearly lipstick campaign,” said M.A.C
Cosmetics PR manager Chery Wong.
Last month the celebrities helped to sell the M.A.C lipstick and lip gloss
at Mid Valley Megamall to shoppers.
The brand has also appointed superstars Debbie Harry, Dita Von Tesse, Eve
and Lisa Marie Presley as spokesmen for the Viva Glam VI lipstick campaign,
which is the primary funding source of the M.A.C AIDS Fund.
M.A.C has raised over RM260mil via the campaign for the M.A.C Aids Fund
worldwide.
