"Paint the town red"

The Star (www.thestar.com.my) (05/11/06)

A VIBRANT combination of red outfits offset by cool, sparking jewels. That’s what guests can expect from Fire and Ice, the fashion show at tonight’s Red Ribbon Gala 2006, to be held at Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur.

The biennial charity gala, organised by the Malaysian AIDS Foundation (MAF), will be graced by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak and his wife, Datin Paduka Seri Rosmah Mansor.

Fire and Ice will see socialites, accompanied by their children, taking to the catwalk in Bernard Chandran creations, matched with Chopard jewellery. Some rare pieces have been flown in just for the evening

A highlight of this fifth gala is the presentation of the Dr Siti Hasmah Award 2006, which recognises an individual or organisation’s contributions in challenging the impact of HIV/AIDS in Malaysia, and the DaimlerChrysler Red Ribbon Media Awards for writing, reporting and the production of programmes on the subject.

There will also be an auction of a Chopard man’s watch worth RM40,000, and a woman’s diamond pendant worth RM56,000. All funds raised will be channelled towards MAF’s Grantmaking Programme and the Circle of Hope fund, which includes the Paediatric AIDS Scheme and the People Living with AIDS Drug Assistance Scheme.

Sponsors for this year’s gala are Chopard Malaysia, Bernard Chandran, DaimlerChrysler Malaysia, Malaysia Tatler and Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur.
