RENAISSANCE Hotel in Kota Baru, Kelantan, recently launched a ‘Hope
Campaign’ to help the Malaysian AIDS Foundation to promote public awareness
about the deadly disease.
The hotel’s public relations manager Nik Adura Zuliana said the campaign was
initiated in line with the hotel’s management company, Marriot
International’s, efforts to create such awareness globally.
During the launching, Nik Adura and hotel general manager Philip Chee spoke
about the trauma experienced by AIDS victims and how the public could
respond in kind to help them.
Donation boxes were also placed at strategic areas in the hotel, including
at its front desk reception counter and coffeehouse.
In a press statement issued by the foundation, it stated that innocent
children infected by HIV/AIDS were often shunned by the public.
They suffered from stigmatisation, pain, loneliness and were often deprived
of a normal life, the statement said.
The campaign is to help raise funds and give ‘hope’ for the children
infected so they can have equal opportunity to fulfil their potential as
humans.
The hotel was also selling merchandise, including T-Shirts, ‘I Made A
Difference’ magnets and other novelty items of which proceeds from their
sales would be donated to the foundation.
