PT
Foundation works with 5 communities that are highly difficult to reach. Each
community is represented by an elected Core Group and a Chairperson. The
Chairpersons are Members of the Executive Committee , and together with the
staff, they are responsible for the overall running of PT Foundation.

All five
programmes of PTF deliver four core objectives:
1) Provide
a safe space for the community where they can be themselves without being
judged for who they are or what they do. Safe Spaces include drop-in
centers, support group sessions and empowerment workshops.
The Ikhlas,
Maknyah, Sex Workers and Positive Living Drop-In Centers also provide free
nutritional meals, hygiene and basic medical services, and living skills
assistance as well as an extensive referral system for more specific needs.
2) Provide
counseling and information that is non-judgmental and relevant to the needs
of the communities – this include STI (Sexual Transmitted Infections) and
HIV prevention and care, gender & sexuality counseling and workshops, and
harm reduction advocacy. Safer Sex negotiation skills and free and anonymous
HIV screening are also offered.
3) Reach
out to the communities on their turf via peer based outreach programmes,
by going to ‘underground’ venues such as back alleys, drug haunts (ports),
parks at mid-night, brothels, recreational spas and massage centers, and
nightclubs.
In the Sex
Workers, Maknyah and MSM Programme, the main task of the outreach workers is
to provide safe sex information, free condoms and lubricants at venues where
these populations are located. For the Iklas Programme, free needles and
syringes are provided in exchange for used ones.
4.) Conduct
public awareness and advocacy to reduce stigma and discrimination against
the communities. Activities range from study tours, talks, workshops, media
interviews and conferences held at the center and at government agencies,
colleges and universities, NGOs and the corporate sector. |
